Does anyone know if Flint is in town yet. I don't wanna go all the way down there and find out one of there bike tires blew out so they couldn't make the game. Post in here when you see the bikes. I'll go and let the air out of their tires. LOL LOL LOL

Game was awfully boring but I was comparing it to the Rory Smith fest last year so maybe that is why.
I like our team, its scrappy and is going to fight every night sort of like what we seen in 07-08. Our offense is extremely spotty so far. With some more practice and work they could end up being better. Stillman is going to be a stud.
Our defense was great and Russo played pretty good though I seen way to many rebounds given up but maybe thats the way he plays.
Give it up to Flint though they played a much more defensive minded game then I have seen from them in years past.

Here's my take:
Not a bad effort. Both teams played pretty good defensively. I don't know if it's a compliment to this year's Generals team or a jab at last year's Generals, but the group they put out there tonight (including several future grocery baggers) played much better defense than I ever saw out of that team last year.
For the Icehawks, they're going to have to get more offense going. As for the players, I thought Russo played great. Rookie Bedard looked like the real deal - nice shootout goal. Hansen had me confused a little bit on D. He had a couple of bad turnovers and bad plays, but then came back and made some excellent plays. I had just gotten done talking about a couple of bad turnovers, when he turned around and played a 2 on 1 better than any defenseman I have seen in this league in 3 years. Took the shooter to the outside and still blocked any possibility of the pass. He ended up knocking a pass away and all he had left the shooter was a shot from wide of the faceoff circle - textbook way to play it. I really noticed this starting in the 2nd period - Kinnie was playing like an offensive juggernaut. I noticed a couple of times where he loafed to get back a little, but the number of chances he created (including the goal he scored) was amazing. If he's going to play like that, I don't think there's any way Stan can get rid of him. I say keep him. If he starts missing defensive assignments, bench him. If he does it after that, then maybe you have to move on. As for Lindberg's shootout goal, it wasn't the same as last year's and it wasn't in that same category, but it was still pretty sweet. He pulled the goalie to the left (goalie's right) and used the long reach to sweep the puck in around the goalie - more like that Forsberg move.
As far as Flint goes, I can't give a whole lot of input. I was having enough trouble trying to keep track of the Icehawks players without a roster, let alone trying to figure out Flint's players. Apparently, they ran out of printed rosters before I got there, even though only about 200 people were there before me. Looking back at the roster now, I will say that (#3) Solomon McCann, (#6) Kevin Galerno, (#23) Mori and (#24) Bullock (of course) looked pretty good. I believe it was actually Mori (not Ward) that scored the 2nd Flint goal. It was a clean goal and I could've sworn the shooter was #23, unless I missed it somehow (hey, it wouldn't be the first time).
Both the fights were pretty tame. Nothing too exciting tonight, but it was fun to see some live hockey again.

I thought the game was a real sleeper. I wish I was at the Muskegon - Fort Wayne game.
