A fort wayne newspaper had an article today stating that the IHL plans on returning with 6 teams. Does that mean Port Huron will be back?

Yes we already have our season tickets selling. The IHL is silly though. As much as they want to think it, Flint isn't coming back then having below 7 teams in the league voids Quad Cities lease with their arena, atleast from what I heard. So how do they count 6 cause I'm only counting 5. Now you go below 6, you lose visas, your not recognized as a professional league, etc.

Unfortunately it appears we have to suffer through at least 1 more year of this garbage.

I'm thinkin we are going to somehow be in the IHL next year with 6 teams and watch total crap hockey again. Though I do like Dennis Hextall and this will be his first full offseason and also he got to watch this league for a full year. He has noted the officiating is terrible so atleast he isn't blind to the obvious. He seems to listen well and wants to make changes. So I will give him a shot to see if he can surprise us.

On the other hand Hextall is pissin me off by covering up Flint saying they will be back next year. Maybe he is right, but let the dead dog die already. Theres no way 2 teams can work in Flint, let alone 1. Its time to let them die. I think it may even help us a bit with Flint gone because Flint fans will mosey there way this way to get there pro hockey fix.

They only anticipate Muskegon leaving. They think they can hang onto Flint.

I can't see how they think Flint is coming back unless there is a new ownership in hiding, which I highly doubt. With that said, I don't they the hockey fans of Flint will support a junior team. As bad as we hate AA minor hockey, those juniors leagues will not be supported not only in Flint but Muskegon as well. I do not see who the 6th team is even going to be. I will be shocked if there is IHL next season.

Possibly Evansville? I think they were supposed to come in for 11-12 if the leauge was still around. Unfortunetly, we need teams for this coming season.

There was talk of Evansville joining up and Chicago coming back. I know Chicago was still trying to work an agreement with the arena. Haven't heard much else. As for Evansville, I haven't heard a whole lot more on them either. I know they visited Port Huron to see how things worked and stuff. The owners have money and I believe I heard they were building a facility to house their team. I guess we will see what happens in the upcoming months. I've been seeing news stories from Flint on how the fans have been trying to convince the owners not to close out on the Generals. There is even a dude in a green suit that's been going to the games and putting up signs and such saying to keep the team going. It would be nice for them to stay in the league. Who knows, maybe if they survive the playoffs, it could be just what they need to salvage the team. Only time will tell.

If Ft. Wayne goes to the AHL, then they will be able to keep Hodgeman without him dropping down a level to play.

I've always heard that the Frankes owe money to the player union for something so thats why they have been in this league to avoid it. Theres so many things we don't know right now. I read on Justin Cohn's blog that one of the reasons Stan Drulia left the team was because he did not like the way the IHL was heading. At first he seemed pretty into the whole IHL idea. So what that shows me not everyone within the IHL is on the same page. I mean theres so many rumors flying around right now, its something new everyday. I've heard from a pretty good source the Icehawks could fold because Larry Kinney is now in a divorce. Its a mess all we can do is sit back and watch.

Wouldn't surprise me about the Frankes from what I've learned about them over the years.

If Ft. Wayne goes to the AHL, then they will be able to keep Hodgeman without him dropping down a level to play. His rights are owned by the Toronto Marlies. He couldn't play for them unless traded or let go.
