not a far drive from Port Huron if anyone wants to see some pro hockey, or you could just run up to a local rink on a Wednesday night to catch some beer league hockey. www.lapeeraahl.com/You can also help name the team.

Guess I found my way to get a pro hockey fix. At least until they fold mid-season.

I love how they call the AAHL "pro" makes me inspired to start my own league and put the "pro" label on it

"Pro"? Technically, yes.
"Good" players? No. If they were good, they wouldn't be in the AAHL playing for a couple hundred bucks a week (if their checks clear.) Please enlighten us as to who these "good players" are that you name, and at what NHL/AHL/ECHL rink they will be displaying their talents this year.

I would use the word "pro" loosely with this league...i mean there's probably a 60% chance the whole league folds mid-season after everyone finds out about teams that don't even pay their players.
These guys are beer leaguers, the play in the NAHL is twice as good as this crap. Half of the guys in the AAHL last season could barely even skate, and the ones that could were 3 point a game players...there's something wrong with that IMO. The league is a joke...plain and simple....these guys that were huge point getters lasted maybe the length of a tryout in AA and got sent back.

yes I would love to hear who some of these "good players" are. They may look "good" in this league but if they were a "good" player like you say they are they sure as hell wouldn't be playing in that leage.

Can't believe Merlini signed in that league. Remember he was up for talks to be rookie of the year in the IHL a couple years ago. There must be more of a story behind it, maybe he had to go to get a real job I know he does construction with his dad

I heard they signed Brent Sullivan as well. Wow I might have to check out some of those games.(only about a 30 min drive for me) They have a cool looking logo and their online pro shop looks pretty top notch. You never know, they might get a lot of support since the Generals are gone, and the arena has a nice sports lounge to watch the games.

ex icehawks derek merlini and jeremy tucker have signed with the loggers So was this just a fantasy? Well maybe not; Merlini played his first game last night. 2 years ago he had AHL scouts looking at him, now he's playing at the lowest level possible.
