I don't agree with the punishment, it's too harsh. Even if they are hurt or not, if they decline the offer- just find a replacement player.
This is an idea thrown out by a few hockey reporters, why not just fine the team a small amount instead of punishing the specific player- the game they miss could be a reason why they don't make the playoffs.
The reporters also suggested to change the voting process and have the players vote on who plays in the game. What do you think about the idea of changing the voting process in the future??

Im with you 100% on this one.
Although i dont think one game will make the difference for the wings this season, it could in other seasons or for other teams that might come across this situation.
I dont think the fans should vote who gets into the all-star game, because then the "big name players" will only get in and not necessarily the best players will play in the game, just because they're a big name player doesnt mean they're the best.
Maybe even have the coaches and players both involved in the voting process?

I still don't understand the punishment. Both Lidstrom and Datsyuk have injuries and wanted the weekend to heal up. What's the problem? Didn't watch the skills competition and I have no idea when the All-Star Game's on, or if it was already played. And couldn't care less. It'll probably be 2 hours of idol-worshiping at the skates of "The Savior of the NHL", Cindy Crosby, anyway. The only problem is, is that SYDNEY (not cindy) Crosby didn't play either. Guess What though... He didn't get suspended like Lidstrom and Datsyuk. hmmm wonder why? Don't worry, I know Crosby's first name is spelled S-Y-D-N-E-Y. I just don't care for him or the hype. And I think the reason he wasn't suspended was because he was in Montreal for the game even though he didn't play. Still, the suspensions were a crock.

I think the fans should still be involved in the voting, but the voting should be balanced between fans, coaches and players. Something like: 1/3 fans, 1/3 coaches and 1/3 players. Just a thought....

Man Souray and Weber can really smoke the puck! I swear the puck disappears for a second when they blast it at the net.
