NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (July 13)-The Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) made an offensive move Monday as they announced the signing of forward Jamie Carroll for the 2009-10 season.
The third year professional played with Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League (IHL) for two seasons accumulating 150 points in 149 games. In his rookie season in 2007-08, Carroll was called up by the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Andover, CT native had his best season last year when he posted 80 points (28 goals, 52 assists) in 73 games as an Icehawk.
Prior to playing professionally, the 6-foot-1 winger played at the collegiate level for Providence College and Iona College. His freshman year in 2002-03, Carroll skated with the Iona Gaels for 35 games, tallying 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) before Iona cut the hockey program. For the 2003-04 season Carroll played for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL before committing to Providence College of the NCAA. In three seasons with the Friars, he put up 49 points (23 goals, 26 assists) in 104 games.
Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong believes the addition of Carroll will bring an offensive boost to the Texas roster.
"In the recruiting process we were looking for a strong player with an offensive background and great work ethic. These are the same qualities Jamie possesses and we look forward to seeing him don the Brahmas jersey next season," said Wildfong.
Carroll joins Jason Deitsch, AJ Gale, Anders Strome, Casey Russell, Craig Minard and Brett Jaeger for the 2009-2010 season as the Brahmas look to repeat for the CHL title. For Brahmas season ticket information please contact the Brahmas offices at (817) 336-4423.
