i believe in 2nd chances...
Coach Hicke said in the paper he was more embarrassed than the kids were for last nights implosion...
i fell bad for the final tally but i was disgusted by the thugery that was perpertrated in the 3rd, but enough of THAT deceased equine...
regroup, reassess, attack and play smart. play MATURE. if you get frustrated, turn that into positive energy not stupidity...

boy what a boring ass game this was. only 1-1/2 fights. the half being Korolev's instigator minor, fighting major and unsportsmanlike misconduct shenanigans... (sarcasm mode off) apparently enough people were turned off by the grand disparity in goals scored, they only wanted to be part of the opening night festivities or they DIDNT LIKE THE IDIOCY of the headhunting to stay home to the tune of nearly 400 LESS in attendance than last night. 945 vs 1336...
Anthony did a SUPER job between the pipes tonight. sign that boy to an extended contract...
the lack of thugery was a refreshing change from last night, although there were some VERY questionable calls against us tonight. who was that crappy ref from the IHL last year? i think he just changed the name on his sweater to MARTIN...
bring on traverse city!

Better game tonight, not as entertaining though, the defensemen really need to improve for us to win any games, got to make better first passes and better decisions with the puck.
Leonid Kovalev is officially my favorite player, Formosa got what he deserved for celebrating.

I vote this guy the biggest cry baby in the history of port huron hockey.

you have no idea what HOCKEY is about do you...
are you HAPPY we allowed EIGHT powerplay goals because everyone was thrown out of the game? hell, why dont we just start the game with a brawl ala 'the game', (between the redwings and the avalanche) get half the players ejected and go from there?
meathead hockey is going to get NO ONE called up, give port huron a crummy reputation and who knows, maybe get the team removed from the league. then where will the 'great hockey town' of port huron be?
youre an idiot...
back to the game, what have we got on the roster now, 4 goalies? Jacaruso was fantastic in goal. where is he from does anyone know? Taylor Pickering said after fridays game he technically didnt score those 2 goals, they were deflected or tipped in off other players, but it is what it is...
there were some chicago players parents across the aisle from me and they were yelling at their son to not get 'sucked in' just before Kovalev got into his one-sided fight. not used to the 'opposition' being on the south side of the rink...

HOCKEY is about hard hits, fights and hating the guys your playing...check, check and check. Im tired of todays Euro hockey crap and all the fans that try and ruin the game for what it was made to be, this ISN'T figure skating, and it ISN'T Europe...if you don't like real hockey just don't go, i don't even want to hear it complained about, when you go down by 10 goals in a game i fully expect these kids to act like a bunch of "thugs" That teaches the team a lesson for the next time they play that if they run up the board there WILL be consequences...point proven to them i do believe... And as far as a bunch of whining fans about it, there was NONE by me, they all loved the fighting/antics, including the players sitting out for us. And if their parents don't like it, maybe they should quit babysitting, these kids are more than old enough to make their own decisions, and if a kid decides to celebrate after a fight it's his own fault some crazy Russian kid jumps him.

I dont get why I continue to argue with you chief complainer but whatever I'll state my point then I'm done.
Ernie Hicke had a ridiculous late start with this team. He had no team until after the NAHL draft was over and missed all the recruiting. This team was made all on try outs and players that played for the Hickes before. This team was destined to suck from the get go, though I did not see it being this bad. This team probably won't have over 10 wins this season and I'm being serious.
Hicke doesn't seem like he is a dummy, he I'm sure knew this team was going to be bad from the get go. So it was a smart business move to go out and get guys that would play a rough style of hockey. You weren't going to build a contender so build a entertaining team. Remember as much as you'd like to sit here and say you rather see a good hockey game then fights at the end of the day its all about ticket sales. Lets be real Port Huron isn't really a "hockey town" who the hell said it was? The only time people get excited in a game is when theres a fight. This is where the Icehawks failed. Sure they played pretty good hockey all 3 years but at times the games were snoozers. On the Falcons opening night even when it was a 13-3 game I found the game interesting and I didn't leave because I was interested to see what else would happen. Really alot of people didn't leave either until the last minute. I mean the game was a 10 goal differential people should of been hitting the exits right at 7-3 8-3 no they stayed because of the fighting.
The way I see it, this is just junior hockey, though I'm going to root for the Falcons to win and would be happy to see them win, it won't break my heart if they don't win alot of games. I want to be entertained, if I'm gonna pay my 8 bucks I want to go home happy with what I saw. If I wanna watch a good played hockey game I'd save my 8 bucks and stay home and watch the Red Wings. I think alot of people feel the same way.

i agree with you 100% ive never said it was, ive read it in the times herald (by SOMEONE) but ive never said it. if it were, we would have sold out the tiny little venue we have...
im with you. my point is I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH FIGHTING... cheap shots on the other hand, in either junior or pro is just isnt needed. if youve got a guy in the corner trying to dig a puck out from the boards, by ALL MEANS, leave paint on his sweater, knock his head against the glass, leave him dazed. THAT is hitting which i have no problem with. run your mouth all you want and back it up. anyone get within a sticks length of our forwards, hammer him. WHY do it dirty?
if you like thugs and goons then why not ask the coach to have the guys start boarding and charging the opposition like claude the turtle or have him get the guys to do what that one Hanson brother did and have him deck a player during warm-up skates (slapshot movie). THAT would be entertaining wouldnt it?
whatever Kovalev said to Behling wasnt enough to get him to go and the grab-assing he was doing with the stick wasnt either. so we need Kovalev to basically just jump him and draw 7 minutes of penalties and a misconduct with no gain?
okay...
time to bury this horse. its done been whipped until its a puddle of glue...
see ya (maybe?) on friday. lets show traverse city we can skate with anyone...

Hicke has about 7 players who have solid expereince in the NAHL and he needs to use them more and get his lines flowing with those players. This is the NAHL not Tier 3 hockey and they have to many players of that caliber and they play like that and it doesnt work at this level. Also to be good in this league you need a Good Goal Tender and hats off to the goalie who played on Saturday He should have earned himself a Starting spot. Then is Defense and thats is where he is struggleing. Use a few Tenders for next year and trade to bring in more NAHL expereinced defense. Get rid of all the extra players he has at the rink and start believing in the players you have and they will start playing as a team instead of trying to do to much be themself to show off to the coaches. This league is a team work!! head man the puck have a good break out and pass the puck. Trust your line mates and team mates and get it done. But trust comes from the Top Down not the bottom up and having 6 to 8 players new every few days is not a way to build trust. I am not saying dont bring new players but 1 at a time or make trades to better your team. You need Team Chemistry!!!!

im sure the coach is working on getting a solidified team that will begin to gel in the next week or 6...
