by ADDING to your thread, am i 'creating a new one' (ala hawkman's views? lol)...
which team will show up for the game? last nights team or last saturdays team?
and WHERE do they get these officials? good LORD, one of our players gets swatted in the noggin with a stick (when he was on the ice) and the MCMJ player gets nothing, then that sawed off runt Ohno gets DUMPED and we get a roughing minor? (or was it some OTHER penalty. i cant and DONT WANT TO remember last nights game)...

i told a guy tonight, who was scribbling in a notebook with a bunch of NAHL business cards, that ive seen better officiating in a beer league...
was ATROCIOUS refereeing in this league. of course giving up a goal while on a 5-3 advantage doesnt help much...
surprisingly enough there were more in attendance tonight than last...
we had another meltdown in the third but some of the actions were NOT good calls...

Maybe we can petition the league to have a mercy rule put in LOL.

But we haven't been beaten by MORE THAN 10 yet...
Of course that doesn't mean much because I don't remember at which point you rule the game over. AT a ten point lead or 10 points plus 1...

let's have running time like they do in Silver Sticks! If in the 3rd and there's more than a 5 goal margin.go into running time so you don't have to wait all night for the end!

There is no way around it, this team is horrible. I feel bad for these kids getting kicked down every game. We are outmatched and outskilled period. It looked like even the coaches were unsure of the rules and the line changes, what a mess. Hummeny, Jacobson and Halaas need to be on a plane our a bus home. If you can't stay out of the box your going to cost your team. By now someone should have figured out we need to have a strong defense since we got no real firepower. Minimize the bleeding. This is going to be the death of hockey completely in PH if this continues. 500 fans Saturday ? Where?

St Louis is in our division - they're drawing more than us, but overall, we're doing OK. A few wins will help get some excitement back. I'm sure after this weekend, there will be more changes coming.
Saw both games and #1 issue is mental, not physical. Still WAY too many dumb penalties - you'll never get anything going if you spend all your time on PK. Agree with Guido - ship out the guys who repeatedly take dumb penalties - or sit them for a weekend - that's the only way you'll get the attention of a 20 year old kid. Captain 94 seems to have gotten the message and played with much better control this weekend. Asst Captain 14 is an idiot - you can't drop the gloves every time somebody mouths off to you - big difference in being tough and being a punk - I'm sure the coaches like him because he's a local kid, but it's time for him to sit until he can play without constantly hurting the team (captains are supposed to be leaders - this guy's a goof - strip the A from his sweater!!!)
Also, a bunch of guys who have no idea where they are supposed to be and what they are supposed to do. There are some smart, skilled guys on this team: 10, 26, 17, 9, 12 that can set up plays and make things happen. 94 is strong and skilled, but should never be allowed to carry the puck or play the point - he's got more turnovers than Sara Lee. I bet he was on the ice for 18 of the 22 goals we gave up this weekend. #18 was also out for majority of their goals - he plays all the time on special teams - not sure why. He's strong and quick but not great at positioning. Anyway, put 94 and the other big guys in front of the net and let the guys who can handle the puck feed them and set them up for easy rebound goals. The great thing about hockey is that every player has a role on the team - coaches need to use the guys' strengths. Blackhawks didn't win the cup putting Kane in front of the net and letting Bufflin handle the puck. Also, if only 9 forwards and 4 D play 90% of the game, so what - do what needs to be done to win - if you don't have a full roster that should be playing in this league, the other guys can sit on the bench and spell the guys who should be playing a couple times a period. I've seen almost every game, and there are kids who can play - just need to get a couple good lines together and ride 'em the whole game. This league is about speed, smarts and puck-movement. Set your lines up around that.
Lastly - need some goalie upgrades. I'm not going to say the goalies are to blame for all this - they've had very little help in front of them, but you need your goalie to make a big save every now and then, to get you some momentum - just haven't seen that yet. We need a goalie who can play 90% of the games, and stand on his head every now and then.
Only 10 games into the season - 48 to go. Plenty of time to right the ship - only need to finish in the top half of the division to make the playoffs. From what I've seen so far, none of these other teams scare me, if we can get things going.

A new goalie arrived today, not real sure any specifics on him. Mason was kept and Darrin who still has yet to play is still here. I know I am biased obviously, but I think they should give Darrin a shot and see what he can do. He is great at slowing a game down and controlling the puck, he doesn't tend to give up many rebounds which is one area I noticed a lot of goals being scored. He might be young, but he does have experience and the guys seem to really like him. His strengths could compliment where the team is right now while they settle in.

These coaches really need to evaluate these players. In this league the most important aspect is skating. The reason why we are taking so many penalties, like hooking, tripping, holding and interference is that many of the players can not skate at this level. The team has about 9 players vets and 2 non vets that can play at this level. The rest of the players are not ready for this level.
You have one Defenseman on the team all the rest are not ready. There is not a Goalie there who can play at this level. You need to be strong between the pipes and have a solid defense to survive in this league.
The coaches need to stop bringing in new players from lower levels and start making trades to bring in some more veteran Defenseman and a veteran Goalie with proven success.
I disagree of letting a goalie play there is a lot to lose and adding fuel to the fire doesnt help. Stick with someone who has that proven track recored. Just becasue you have goalie pads doesnt mean you are a goalie!!!!

one thing theyve been doing is the EXACT OPPOSITE of this, thats for sure. one of the billet families was talking the other week about how 'their' player practiced with X and Y players and then just before the game was introduced to R and L and told, they will be on your line TONIGHT. are you SERIOUS?
i thought the only goalie we had who was worthy of playing was Jacaruso but that was because of the lowest GA/game this season against Traverse City...
b-b-b-but, but, but...
fighting is EXACTLY what this team needs to put fans in the seats. i read it RIGHT HERE in THIS FORUM...
while i realize these are all 18-20 year old kids, i think they skate pretty good (considering how poorly i can skate at my age lol!) but some of the nit-picky minor penalties seemed to come later in the games vs Motor City. is that their inability to skate at the same level or frustration?
we need a fair shake from the zebras as well. i didnt think id ever say there wes WORSE officiating than the IHL but i guess i have. not everything is 'biased hometown beefing' but theres been some pretty crappy referring at times...
