don't know about my health, and what has been going on with me. There was a topic about my health situation on Hockey Mayhem for awhile, but it's now gone.
I was in Beaumont Hospital(Royal Oak) towards the end of September and a couple of weeks in October, missed the PH IceHawks Training Camp, dang it. Anyways, I had to have surgery for a female condition, those who I know on this hockey board and other hockey boards know what kind of surgery that I had.
But anyways, just wanted to let everyone know that after that surgery I was diagonosed with cancer, Liver cancer actually. I also have a medium-sized tumor wrapped around the main aorta in my body, between my intestions and my liver. I was recently at the oncologists, yesterday(Thursday, May 22nd) and she, my oncologist had me on pills, called Sutent, for the tumor. Well, she decided yesterday that I will be having chemotherapy, I'll be in the hospital for 5 days, and may not be on here or any hockey boards for a little while.
I plan on taking a laptop with me, but it depends on how I feel, if I will be online.
I just wanted to let everyone know, that knows me on here what was going on. I'll keep you all updating as I can.
Thank you.
Becky(aka-blroth)

Just an update for those who read this thread....I'm currently a patient back at Beaumont, as far as I know I'll be starting chemo in the morning. I had an appointment with my oncologist this morning and she wanted to admit me, the only problem with that is that I didn't have anything with me. I had to go back home and get stuff, not to mention a laptop, which I'm currently on.
I'll keep this thread updated as I can, depending on how I feel.
Thanks for the support, I appreciate it!

Okay guys another quick update...I started my chemo through my I.V. and so far, so good. Although I did get a anti-inflamatory and a anti-nausea shot, so that could very well be why I still feel fine.
As far as I know I'll be getting my port in tomorrow, the other chemo drug that I'll be having has to go through the port, instead of the I.V. but I'll be taken to the operating room and put under general anesthesia so I won't feel it, and as far as I know I'll be here for 5 days.
I have an old laptop of my dad's so I'll keep this thread as updated as I can, depending on how I feel.
Thanks for all the good wishes everyone, I appreciate them.

Okay guys....another quick update, got the port in, wasn't too bad, I was under general anesthesia, so I didn't feel anything. Got my 1st and 2nd chemo treatments through it, and so far, so good. The tape that they have around it is a little annoying, but my nurse said that he will trim it tomorrow, he doesn't want to mess with it today. My family and a friend stopped by to see how I was, so I'm not TOO much in a hurry to go home yet, that could change, my targeted release date is the 22nd, so hopefully it will still be that. But if it's not, I'll be fine. The only problem with staying in past Saturday, is that I was going to help with a diabetes awareness game, and was looking forward to it, but can't now, that sucks. Oh well. Thanks for all the support and good wishes, I appreciate them

Okay guys, yet another update.....(You guys are going to be sick of me after awhile, ha ha)I'm still doing good. Had my 3rd chemo treatment a little while ago, and still feel fine. Got my hair shampooed in one of those caps they put on and leave it on for a certain amount of time. The only problem with that, was when I was combing out my hair, I noticed some of it on the comb. I'm not freaking out, too much, I have thick hair, so hopefully I won't lose too much more. Once again I'll keep this thread updated as I can, seeing how I feel, it shouldn't be a problem.

Okay guys.....just getting my 4th treatment, still feeling fine. My head feels a little weird, but I've been told that it might happen. The oncologist has started my discharge papers for Sunday, woo-hoo! Not that the nursers, and the nurse assistant's and the doctor's aren't nice, it's just that I'm so far away from home. Will keep this thread updated, as I have said that I will. I don't know when I'll be back in for my 2nd round, but when I am, I'll post an update. Thanks all

Well guys, yet another update, ha ha ha. As far as I STILL know, I'll be going home tomorrow, when I don't know, it will be after my last treatment, they have been scattered because of my port not getting put it right away, they could only put one of the chemo drugs through my I.V. which is why I needed the port, so I got that now, and as far as I know will be going home with it still in, don't know, will probably find that out tomorrow, though I'm pretty sure it will be staying it. The only problem is I'll have to keep coming back for treatments, and I'll be hospitalized, probably for 5 days again. Which is okay, I guess. My oncologist gave me the option of coming everyday and getting a treatment or just staying for 5 days, and getting it done. Seeing that I live no where near the hospital, and I have to think about the wear and tear on my sister, my dad and my sister's car, I chose to just stay the 5 days, and then go home. It really hasn't been too bad, my family has been coming up every other day, and I have a pass so that I can leave the floor woo-hoo! I was stuck up on the 8th floor all day Thursday, and it sucked. As soon as the doctor came in to talk to me, I asked him about getting permission to leave the floor, so now I have a Campus Pass, which is the equailalent of a backstage pass for a concert, only this is from the hospital. Anyways, that's what has been up with me. I'm currently watching cartoons, and I NEVER watch cartoons, let alone much t.v. I was bored enought last night that I watched that new show called MVP on CBC last night, only thing that looked interesting. I'll have to watch it again to form an opinion, but it is interesting, that is for sure. Well, thanks for all the good wishes, I appreciate them Becky(aka-blroth)

Okay guys another update......I have my last chemo treatment @ 3p.m. and it lasts a(n) hour, and as far as I know, I'll be outta here after that. Woo-hoo!
Like I just told all the nurses that I have had over my stay here, it's not them, they're great, I just wanna go home. As I said in a(n) other post, I'll coming back every month, that I know of, for more treatments, my oncologist, Dr. Balaraman, was going to write up the schedule and everything that I need to know for me, so that I know what I'm doing once I go home, and what my treatment schedule is. So I'll have LOTS of paperwork to take home with me, yeah. That would be me being sarcastic.
Well, it's almost lunchtime, so I'll write off. Thanks all for the good wishes, I really do appreciate them ;D

Okay guys, I'm home. Sorry that the update took so long, but I didn't end up leaving the hospital until after 5 p.m. and then didn't even think about getting on the computer when I got home. I just went to bed. My nice full size bed, while a hospital bed that moves is nice, nothing like sleeping in your own bed. I'm currently waiting for someone from the oncologist's office to call me back about some prscriptions, stupid Medicaid sometimes, but other than that, and making myself some lunch, that felt weird. Especially after being essentailly waited on hand and foot for the past 6 days. It felt nice. Thanks for all the good wishes. I have to call the oncologist about making an appointment in a month, and then the next round of chemo will start, so I'll keep you guys updated. Essentailly she, my oncologist Dr. Balaraman, told me to keep a bag packed, but she will try and give me advanced notice next time, if she can. Because of my chemp treatment being rare, the hospital doesn't keep it stocked up, but they have it there now. Well, I'm signing off. Thanks again guys, I appreciate it
